Tie Dye Tuesdays

Fee: $10 covers all materials and instructions for one t-shirt or pillowcase.
Rain or shine, Tuesdays are for Tie Dye. Leave the mess to us. Choose from either a shirt or pillowcase. Surprise is part of what makes tie-dye an exciting and interesting art form - and there will be plenty of surprises. Drop in anytime between 2 and 4pm, this activity takes about 30 minutes. Tie Dye makes for a fun family or group activity.

Paint on Pottery
Wednesdays, June 30 - August 25
10am - noon
Fee: Ranges from $5 - $18
Choose from a mug, vase, flowerpot, pet dish, pie plate, sushi plate, piggy bank, and more. Our friendly staff is happy to assist you with hints, tips and techniques, and we have plenty of idea books, images, and stencils to help you find a direction. When you’re finished, leave it with us, your finished masterpiece will be ready to pick up within 5 days. All materials used are nontoxic, dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe.

Origami Thursdays
Thursday, August 12, 10-11:30am
Fee: $24/$20 members
Origami is the ancient art of paper folding. The word is Japanese, and literally means to fold (oru) paper (kami). Students will learn the different types of folds to make paper flowers and animals. Each participant will take home their own copy of Picture Perfect Origami, a retail value of $21.95.

Children’s Pottery - Handbuilding
Session III: Aug. 9 - 12
& August 17 & 19
Fee: $100/$90 members
Ages 6 - 9
All sessions run from 1 - 2:30pm
Children will learn the basics of handbuilding while they express and execute their personal visions in clay. Clay’s three dimensional nature encourages children to think about structures, shapes and forms. Students will experiment with a variety of building techniques. All works will be glazed and fired for permanence. Students are asked to wear clothes that can get messy or bring an old shirt or smock to class. Limited to 8 students.

During the summer, Camp Mark 7
brings a large population of deaf individuals to the area. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to communicate, at a gas station, grocery store, or especially in case of an emergency? This is a basic introductory class.

Aerogami

A paper plane is a toy that is fun and accessible, all you need to make it is a sheet of paper. It is also sometimes called aerogami, after origami , the Japanese art of paper folding. Students will learn to make different styles of paper airplanes, and then test them out.
Theater & Visual Arts Workshops

Professional teaching-artists will hold sessions in theater and visual arts. The participants will prepare a short performance or a visual art piece to share at the 4th Annual Youth Artist Festival.
